What it does
Converts a list of items between separators — newline, comma, space, pipe, semicolon, or tab — with optional trim, empty-item removal, case-aware deduplication, and locale-aware sorting. The converted list updates as you type, shows a live item count, downloads as a file, and encodes your full input plus settings in the URL so any view can be shared and reopened. Runs entirely in your browser.
How to use it
- Paste your list into Input (or tap a Try: chip to load a ready scenario).
- Pick the From and To separators — every combination of the six works in both directions.
- Toggle options as needed: Trim (strip spaces around each item), Drop empty (remove blank items), Unique (dedupe), Sort (alphabetical), Case-insensitive (affects both Unique and Sort).
- Copy the output, download it as
list.csv(comma output) orlist.txt(everything else), or copy the address bar URL — it always mirrors your list and settings, and restoring a shared link reloads the exact view.
Examples
Newline list to comma (defaults — Trim and Drop empty on):
apple / banana / cherry → apple,banana,cherry
Dedupe and sort in one pass (Unique + Case-insensitive + Sort on; duplicates drop, first spelling wins):
pear / apple / banana / Apple / pear → apple,banana,pear
Case-aware dedupe only (Unique on, Case-insensitive off — Apple and apple stay distinct):
Apple / apple / Apple → Apple,apple
CSV column to lines, cleaning as it goes (Comma → Newline trims padding and drops the empty cell):
a, b ,c,,d → a / b / c / d
Pipe to semicolon: x|y|z → x;y;z — Tab and Space work the same way (a b c with double spaces still yields three items, because Drop empty removes the blanks).
Good to know
- Private: all processing is local; nothing leaves your browser.
- Shareable: the URL carries your input, separators, and option toggles; links shared before this upgrade (
?from=&to=&t=format) still open correctly. - The item count badge reflects the output list after every option is applied.
- Combining Trim + Drop empty + Unique + Case-insensitive + Sort produces a clean, canonical list in one step.
