What it does
The MIME Type Reference is a searchable map of common file extensions to their standard MIME (Content-Type) strings, grouped by the seven top-level media types - text, image, audio, video, application, font, and multipart. Look a format up by its extension or by its MIME type, filter the table by category, and copy the exact Content-Type for any format. It is a quick-lookup table, not a guesser: every mapping is a hand-curated, standards-aligned value.
How to use it
- Search by extension (e.g.
png), MIME type (e.g.image/jpeg), or format name (e.g.spreadsheet). - Use the category switch to narrow the table to one top-level type (text, image, …).
- Click a format to read its full name and Content-Type.
- Hit Copy type to grab the exact
Content-Typestring for headers, configs, oracceptlists.
